Pity Party

Zachary Fontaine has created a five-chair dining set that explores many of the major aspects of his identity. A celebration of personal experiences, this alien yet familiar environment is intended to unease the audience and create social tension that need-not exist. Each chair includes an interactive element that is carefully curated to complement each individual chair. As viewers are invited to the space, they are encouraged to explore and engage with the objects surrounding them. Incorporating the actual walls of his studio, he has created an artificial space out of the walls he worked within. He dedicates his work to his grandmother, Betty, who recently passed away.
